Make it Work: Relationship Rescue Tips
Things are easy at the beginning of any love relationship - the so-called "romantic" stage. You are both excited and elevated by the powerful energy exchange between the two of you, and it seems like there is nothing in the world that could change it. It will always be this way. It should be, right?
Most of us grow up with a "romantic savior" stereotype - a person who will come one day and just make things better for us,once and for all. It takes quite a few "bad" relationships to finally emotionally mature and understand the love between two people as a gentle, but very powerful flow of energy that needs to be maintained, nourished and taken care of.
|
"We are not held back by the love we didn't receive in the past, but by the love we're not extending in the present."
(Marianne Williamson) |
How do you maintain the flow of love in your life by using feng shui? First, make a conscious choice to be aware of your environment at all times. Especially the bedroom. Does it feel/look good to you? Does it convey a feeling of support, nourishment and intimacy? Does it feel like a balanced, welcoming space for two people, or just for one? If you want your relationship to work, make your space work.
Your environment may be your closest ally in times of stress, heartbreaks or transition periods - times when it's just you and yourself. Create it as the best reflection of who you are, so that when you forget it, your space will gently and lovingly remind you.
Shakespeare wrote a very long time ago: "The path of true love is never smooth"; so the challenging times will sure be there for you in an intimate relationship. Now, however, you have enlisted the help of a powerful ally - your environment, your "third skin" - and you will never have to feel alone again!

The Home Spa: Go for it!
Spa. Don't you just love the sound of this word? SPA. Aaaaah. Peace. Serenity. Wish I could make it part of my everyday routine. Morning jog, shower, breakfast, go to spa, take a break to deal with the "real world", and then back to the spa. That's the life! Till I get there, though, I have created quite a nice spa in my own bathroom. I feel happy when I'm in there. It's beautiful and serene. My own little spa retreat for early mornings and late nights.

"The sense of smell is the sense of imagination." (Jean-Jacques Rousseau) |
Being a feng shui consultant, I am also very aware of the importance of the Bathroom design and location. Bathrooms do tend to leak energy, as well as easily accumulate lower vibrations, so the effort you put into re-creating a beautiful bathroom will send healing, calming energy throughout your home.
Water is a perfect natural relaxer and purifier, so combining it with the right elements and materials will create a soothing space for you. Have visuals that give you pleasure. Have mirrors that will give you the pleasure of looking at yourself. Have several sources of lighting, including candles. A tray will come handy if you like to have a drink while in the bath.
The right scents are an important choice, and you can choose from calming or invigorating, romantic or cleansing scents/oils (click here for properties of different oils.) Be aware, though, that proper ventilation is a must for a healthy bathroom. Have the space warm. Make it possible to listen to the music while in the bath. Relax, refresh, rejuvenate and retreat. Just a little effort and Voila! - you have created your own private sanctuary to clear your mind, release stress and get the right perspective on life.

On Welcoming the Baby: Create a Healthy Nursery
Getting ready for your new baby requires a lot of planning. You would need a room that will grow with your child and fill her with inspiration, excitement and wonder.
A good flow of energy in the space will inevitably lead to a happier, healthier child, while a room with a poor energy flow will contribute to a child who can't sleep well, is cranky and tends to get sick often. |
"When I count my Blessings, I count you twice." (Irish Proverb) |
Creating a room for the baby is more than just decorating the space right, it's about expressing your love, care and adoration for this beautiful little person, as well as reassurance of support throughout the life you will be sharing together.
When it comes to the nursery room, be guided by your senses. Think of the nursery as a special retreat for relaxation and bonding with your little one, and let it delight all five senses.
Create a harmony of colors in the space. Look beyond the traditional pink or blue and choose the colors you like/resonate with you. Have different sources of light in the room to be used at different times of the day and night. Keep your baby's bed away from the door and limit the electrical appliances close to the crib.
Use natural materials whenever possible for bedding, curtains, flooring, rugs, furniture and toys (choose wood over plastic). Treat your baby's sense of smell with respect; open windows daily for good ventilation and enjoy gentle essential oils, such as chamomile, rose, vanilla and lavender.
