Spring Cleaning is a popular tradition to get rid of the old stagnant energies of the winter months and replace them with new and fresh energies of the spring. We tend to do a lot of de-cluttering, cleaning and renovating at the beginning of Spring. However, if you can make a habit of applying the spring cleaning concepts to your environment in any season, the quality of your life will change considerably. The # 1 need expressed by clients (either consciously or unconsciously), is the need for more love in their lives. It may be categorized as the need to "improve personal relationships", or "have a better social life", or "family harmony", but it all comes down to the feeling of being loved, appreciated, and accepted for who we are. Your home, being your second skin, is a very powerful (and crucial) ally in this quest. Relationships are difficult to keep fresh and alive. While a new one is full of excitement and fresh energy, the one you have been in for a while may become a bit boring and stagnant. Spring is the best time to remove the stagnant energy from your relationship and invite some fresh, new and exciting energy with a big help from mother nature! No matter you are in a relationship that is going into its second year or its second decade, here are 7 basic feng shui tips to help you keep it fresh, beautiful and alive. 1. FOCUS on bringing fresh energy into your space - fresh flowers, fresh air, fresh fruits on the kitchen table, fresh (recent) photos, etc. 2. MOVE your furniture around, even if just a couple inches. Do not keep your bed in the same position year after year. Just moving your bed an inch or two will change the flow of energy in the room. 3. KEEP the television out of the bedroom. 4. CLOSE the bathroom and closet doors in your bedrooms. Keep them clean and clutter free. 5. FILL your space with beautiful music according to mood - sounds, just like colors, are strong expressions of energy. 6. DISPLAY photos of your partner/family enjoying life. 7. RESPECT each others boundaries and create space and time where each partner/family member can be by him or herself. Feng Shui is a great way to redirect the old energy and create new one in order to enhance important aspects of one's Life. And what can be more beautiful than living a Life filled with Passion, Purpose and Abundance? Have a great Spring! Rodika |

Question: "Dear Rodika, We are looking into buying a new dining table, what shape would work better according to feng shui principles? Thank you very much. Sincerely, K. Summers, Toronto, ON" Answer: Dear K. Summers: Generally, a round or oval table is considered better than a square or a rectangle one. However, if you feel that a square or rectangle table would work better for the shape of your dining room, be sure to buy one that has rounded corners. The table should be in proportion to the room and it is best to have an even number of chairs, unless you go for a round table. Best chairs are the ones with a solid back. As the dining table is one of the most versatile and functional furniture pieces in the home, I would suggest taking your time, doing your research and buying it when you are in a relaxed mood. Ask where the table is made and who made it. Invest in an oak, pine, cherry or walnut table, rather than chip board with veneer, or a glass one. Good luck! | |
