Keep breathing: it's the season

Well, let's just take a deep breath and realize Christmas season is here again. And then take another breath and connect to how you really feel about it. What is your body telling you? Most probably it wants to avoid all the stress we "traditionally" put ourselves through - emotionally, mentally and financially. At the time when mother nature is giving us strong clues about conserving the energy by going into a "cocooning" state and relax/save our energies, we rebel and rush into the busiest times ever!

Creating new traditions/new way of celebrating big holidays is a very personal decision; what I am here to do is help you go through these several weeks with as little stress as possible. Consider ordering the report based on your personal element - it has lots of powerful tools you will use throughout your life to improve your well-being. Be mindful of the quality of air and light in your space, the arrangement of furniture and decor elements, keep breathing and remind yourself to stay in the moment. It is ALL happening in the moment. Right here, right now.

I wish you a truly magical Christmas!

  Give the Gift of Light
From the moment we open our eyes till the time we go to sleep we continuously experience light. We breathe deeper when looking at the clear blue sky, we stop at red lights and proceed at green, we inquire if our friend is OK when there is no "light in her eyes." We look for light, we want to feel light, we cook light, we've heard people go into the light when they die... What is light, anyway?

Light is our # 1 nutrient and has been called the medicine of the future.

"Come into the light of things. Let nature be your teacher."(William Wordsworth)
“Malillumination” is the term coined by pioneer light researcher, Dr. John Ott, to describe sunlight deficiency and the negative, harmful effects of artificial pink or cool-white fluorescent lighting on human's behaviour, learning and health. Do you know that the use of cool-white fluorescent lights has been legally banned in Germany at a Federal level?

I strongly encourage you to become aware of the quality of light in your environment and its influence on your health and well-being. How much light do you actually get, what colors are you surrounding yourself with (we know from physics that color is light); how many light sources do you have in your space, etc, etc. Have you heard of full-spectrum lights - the "super nutrient", as some scientist would call it? If you have not, I highly recommend you research the topic, and then plan on introducing full-spectrum in your home, as well as work environment.

This Christmas, when in a frenzy of what to buy for your loved ones, give them (and yourself!) the gift of light - invest in full-spectrum lighting for the sake of your health. Our full-spectrum lighting supplier does shipping anywhere in North America and he gives discounts to my clients and customers. Contact me and I will send you more info.
It's your health, take good care of it!

Functional Feng Shui @ Hollyhock: GO FOR IT!

I feel honored and happy to share with you the information on this workshop. Hollyhock is Canada's leading educational retreat center with exceptional quality programs, a much respected organization whose mission is to inspire, nourish, and support people who are making the world better. This summer by the virtue of interesting circumstances (always stay open to miracles is my motto!) I was called to Hollyhock to do a feng shui consultation and the result of it was the invitation to teach a 5-day workshop. (The other result was a very quick and powerful change for my client that I will not expose for confidentiality reasons. It was one of the many cases when I was in awe at the energy that comes through when people are ready for change.)

The group size is limited, so do register early. My promise to you is when you come back after 5 days at Hollyhock your life will change. In powerful ways. (People share this after a 2 hour workshop, can you imagine 5 full days with me??)

Besides a variety of materials, info and activities, I will also take you with me for a real-life consultation on the island, so you will get a pick into the world of a feng shui consultant!

To find out more about the workshop, please click on the workshop image above. If you book a program before Dec 31st, 2005 Hollyhock guarantees 2005 room and meal rates in 2006. Hollyhock paper catalogue will be available in mid-January. I will see you there!

Ready, Set, Decorate: Focus on Balance
One of the main theories of feng shui is the theory of five elements: the study of the numerous combinations of the elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth. To create a balanced environment, you always want the presence of all five, but in different proportions.

Late Fall and Winter is the time to invite a strong Fire element to nourish our spaces and our bodies (read this eConsultant issue for a comprehensive energy analysis of Fire colors, as well as more winter decor tips.)

"A room is like a human body. It is alive, and needs to be well nourished and clothed"
(Alexandra Stoddard)
Here are just a few simple points to help you create a balanced space for the season:

1. If you have several options, consider placing your tree either in the South area of your space or in the Center - the Heart of the Home; this will bring a beneficial balance of elements.

2. Burning candles or sitting by the fireplace (the real one!) purifies all your energy centers. The closer you are to the fire, the higher the benefits for your energy field. Consider creating groupings of candles and using them in the evening. Avoid burning candles in the East.

3. Because of a strong presence of Fire element Christmas can be very stressful. While introducing decor elements of fiery colors, such as red, orange, magenta, purple, etc. be mindful about balancing it with a cooler color scheme, such as soothing light blues, cool silver and calm white. The green of the tree, even though is visually balancing, actually feeds the Fire/makes the Fire elements stronger.

4. Use essential oils in a candle or electric diffuser to keep the air fresh and the energy levels balanced. Choose pine, eucalyptus, ylang-ylang, neroli, etc to introduce the energy of warmth, purification and nourishment into your environment.

Most of all, go with your gut feeling and create a space that will truly make you happy, rather than repeating year after year the same designs. Be creative and open to change - it's good feng shui!
