Update on Feng Shui for 2005
An ad I glanced at recently popped up with "Only 17 weeks until Christmas!" Oh, please, it is still August, I thought. The feeling the ad conveyed was quite annoying, but it also emphasized the energy we are in now - we hurry up, catch up, move up, etc. It is like getting a second chance to achieve what we planned for 2005 before this year is history.

Feng Shui comes to the rescue in removing many blockages and helping you move forward towards your goals. Be sure to check out the basic feng shui guidelines for 2005 from a previous e-zine (Q & A section), especially if you own a business.

NORTH area of your space is a power spot in 2005 and is especially important to activate it in the month of November. The area is connected to your Career, as well as "hosts" the Prosperity star in 2005. Keep it clean and place a fountain or an aquarium in the North to activate the good energy.

Enjoy!

  The Joy in Work
We all spend too much time at work. It is obviously much more pleasant, then, to spend those hours with people who have a smile on their face and enjoy what they are doing rather than with those who mistakenly associate professionalism with a sour disposition.

How do you make your people feel happy at work? There is a lot of literature on the subject; what is missing, though, is a closer attention to the work environment.

Health Canada defines the Physical Environment - a healthy, well-designed and safe place to work - as the first in the four key factors that influence Employees' Health and Well-Being. Unfortunately, an overwhelming number of workspaces are not only unhealthy, but also quite sad and "joy-less", featuring depressing colors, over-cluttered areas and sterile lights. Working in such a space will drain all the energy out of you and your employees, leaving no room for growth and success.

"The human brain has cells called mirror neurons, and they do nothing but scan for smiles and laughs. When they see one, they make a smile and laugh in return. When people are in a good mood at work, research shows that they have better access to optimal cognitive efficiency. I would predict that it enhances both productivity and creativity. "
(Daniel Goleman, PhD, author of "Emotional Intelligence")
The cure? Apply feng shui! No, this is not about hanging windchimes and dragon statues at strategic points. There is no need to buy any decorative items that have been labeled over the years as "feng shui cures."

Applying feng shui principles is about creating a healthy, vibrant, esthetically pleasing and efficient space for your business. Have lots of natural light (and choose full spectrum over fluorescent), bring lush plants and vibrant colors with art or other details; allow and encourage employees to personalize their workspaces; keep the EAST area of your business space well lit and clean.

Do make an effort to create a joyful space where the creativity flows and productivity soars. It just makes business sense. We are here to help you achieve your business goals with what we do best: create high-energy environments and remove blockages to success. While many know how to improve what's there; few can see what isn't there. We DO SEE.

  Where does the Money flow?
Success comes before Work only in the dictionary. I do not remember who said it, but I love the wording. Will Money and Profits come with hard work and success?

They should. However, if you feel like the prosperity you want (and are ready for!) is still not finding its way to you, or flows away too quickly; here are some feng shui ideas and suggestions to increase your cash flow.

No matter if you are self-employed or heading a big corporation, answer these four questions:

"When it is a question of money, everybody is of the same religion."
(Voltaire)
1. Is there a clear path to the door/main entrance of your business? How does it look/feel, what image does it project? The importance of the main entrance area cannot be overestimated as it is the mouth of chi, or energy. Open up the path to the main door and strengthen its presence.

2. Is there a lot of clutter (hidden or not), as well as disrespectfully misplaced or grouped objects (i.e full trash can under the company name)? If objects in your environment could speak, what would be their story? Imagine the flow of abundance/vibrant chi as a very precious guest. Would it "hang out" in your environment or run for its life?

3. How does the SOUTH EAST area of your business space look? In feng shui terms this is the area "responsible" for your money situation and the energy of it is Wood. Avoid spaces that have a heavy Metal or Fire element presence in this area, or you may have a very hard time staying afloat and bringing money in.

4. Can you bring some beautiful water features into your business space? Water is an ancient symbol of abundance (and the term "flow of money" suggests it.) Depending on the size of your space, it can be anywhere from a tall indoor waterfall strategically surrounded by lush plants to a small indoor fountain placed in the reception area.

Feng Shui will not bring immediate riches to you, but it will greatly support you in your quest for a stronger flow of prosperity. While working on your business (and personal!) space to open up the flow of abundance, work on yourself, too, as we all have internal blockages that often resist success.

Money represents powerful energy; and having enough is your birthright. Go for it.
