Cozy Up for the Season
As the colder weather is on its way, our bodies have the need to cozy up and be well-nourished for the fall & winter season. It is a good idea to take some time now and be sure you are well prepared for the colder season.
A wise feng shui step is to have an early "autumn cleaning" just like you would do the "spring cleaning" in preparation for the change of seasons. Have your home clean, clutter-free and ready for a decor update - deep, warm colors are marching in!
Be sure to enhance your luck by thoroughly cleaning the corners, especially at the ceiling. The areas of your home where stale energy gathers will negatively influence certain aspects of your life; so be sure you enter the new season fresh and clean!
Choose your holiday decorations with feng shui in mind and bring symbols of joy and love into your home. This will attract the energy of happiness and luck into your Home and into your Life.
Enjoy!

Kitchen for the Heart [+ workshop]
In Feng Shui, the kitchen represents nourishment and prosperity.
The way you design and decorate the kitchen will influence not only your health, but also the flow of abundance.
Although feng shui is a very complex practice and the advice will differ depending upon the home and the people living in it, there are still basics that you should follow in creating a kitchen to nourish the body and soul.
If you are building or renovating, you would look into locating the kitchen in the back of the house, or at least behind the centerline.
|
"One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating." (Luciano Pavarotti)
|
Seeing the kitchen immediately upon entering the house is bad feng shui and can manifest in nutritional and eating disorders. If this is your current situation you will have to look into ways to remedy it. While cooking, you should be able to see people entering the kitchen, thus the feng shui notion of a cook in a "commanding position."
Fresh air and natural light is a must to keep the energy fresh and nourishing. A display of fresh fruits and/or vegetables attracts vibrant chi; so do the carefully chosen colors for the location of your kitchen.

Feng Shui to the Rescue: Back to School Time!
Yes, it is that time of the year again... Ready or not, the summer is over! Kids are going back to school, which, besides the shopping spree, means adjusting their bedtime routine ("What do you mean time to go to bed? It's only 9.30!")
There is one constant with the school kids, no matter age 8 or 16 - it is hard to get them to bed and then twice as hard to get them out of bed in the morning!
Can feng shui help?
Of course!
|
"Anyone who thinks the art of conversation is dead ought to tell a child to go to bed." (Robert Gallagher) |
To achieve the fine balance between a good quality sleep (that is the basis of one's health) and a consistent schedule
(which may as well be the basis of one's commitment to his or her life's goals), look no further than applying some very wise feng shui tips and be sure your child sleeps in a healthy bed surrounded by healthy energy.
The three basic requirements for a healthy sleeping space for a child are:
1. The bed has a good, solid headboard that is preferably wood, rather than metal;
2. The bed is located away from the door, and the child is sleeping facing his or her best direction; and
3. There should be minimal or better yet, no plugged in electrical appliances close to your child's body when he or she sleeps.
Have these basics in place before starting to apply the next steps, like deciding together on the decor scheme and choosing the best colors for your child; coming up with an organizing system that works; creating a fun workspace to facilitate learning and creativity, etc, etc.
There is a lot of feng shui thought that goes into creating a healthy successful space for your child. Start with the basics, though, and watch for easier evenings and fun mornings with your school kids!
