FENG SHUI UPDATES FOR 2007
[Chinese/Lunar New Year starts on February 18th, 2007]

There are several feng shui schools, and one of the classical schools takes into consideration the time dimension, as nothing is static. Basically it is a way of "keeping track" of the good and bad energies (called "stars") every year. It is advisable to get familiar with the feng shui energies movement for 2007 and see where you can take certain precautions to avoid difficulties and where you can emphasize the auspicious energies to bring an even stronger flow of beneficial events.

I will not use the traditional Chinese names for the stars/descriptions of energies, such as the Three Killings, Violent Star or Illness Star, as this may trigger some fear based thinking, which is always best to avoid.

My focus is on the "what's in it for you" factor to make you aware of the nature, movement and location of energies; as well as give you basic, intelligent tools to work with. As always, do read it with a grain of salt and see if it resonates with you.

I will start with the "bad" news, i.e. areas of you home or business space (according to the Ba-Gua) that will house contradictory/inauspicious energies in 2007.

The Center/Heart of the Home is the location with some of the most challenging energies for 2007, directly connected to your physical health and well-being. Avoid red colors and fire energy - candles/ fireplace, etc (notice that while red/fire energy was highly recommended here in 2006, it should be avoided in 2007.)

A traditional Chinese cure is a metal six rod wind chime or a string of six chinese coins tied with red string. Metal items and Metal colors (White, Gray) are good to neutralize the energies here.

North, be especially mindful if either your front door, or your back door is in the North, protect your safety twice. Water element is very good here - in images, mirrors or an actual water feature. Do not keep the important documents in the North part of your house this year.

Northeast is another unfavorable sector in 2007 to "keep a close eye" on. Avoid digging or renovating in this area.  Avoid Fire colors and use Metal or Water elements to keep the negative energy under control. Again, a traditional feng shui cure is a six rod metal wind chime.

The Northwest is best kept brightly lit. Feel free to use Fire energy items, colors or shapes here this year. No chimes, no loud music/sounds, thus this will not be a good place for your TV or stereo system. No renovating in this area, either.

West has a combination of both positive and negative influences. The negative quality of energy that is present in the West this year can be avoided by adding bright lights to the area and being mindful about not sitting with your back to the West.

On the bright side, nourishing the good energy here can bring success in the creative field and travel opportunities. Also, this is the area to strengthen in 2007 if you are looking to attract a romantic partner. Use Water element and avoid the Fire one. All the other typical feng shui for love enhancers are good here, such as rose quart crystals, items in two, etc, as long as they are not too fiery for this area (remember the element of West is Metal and Fire melts the Metal.)

OK, we are moving to the good news now! See below the areas with beneficial energy and basic advice on how to harness it/use it for the best.

East Great energy connected to promotion and fame.  Treating this area well will strengthen all the other energies/areas of your life to flow smoother/get better. It is also the sector to strengthen if a couple is looking to conceive a child. Add all the typical fertility feng shui enhancement in this area, or in the East area of your bedroom. Keep this area fresh, clean and beautiful. A lucky bamboo can be very good here.

Southeast energy helps with career and wealth possibilities. Water energy here is highly recommended, either actual water features, images of water, mirrors, colors blue and black - see what works best for your taste and bring that Water element in.

South energy helps you attract and receive help from others when needed. "Heaven energy" is present here, so it is a good area to create an altar, bring a picture of deities you believe in, crystals, candles, etc.

Southwest is the area for romance, couples with possibilities to attract more wealth energy, thus all the feng shui cures for love and romance, as well as abundance, are highly recommended here. If your front door is in Southwest, place hollow earthenware vases to accumulate good chi.

This is about it for the 2007 update on the new feng shui energies. Hope you have a year filled with joy and harmony in your family, success and powerful breakthroughs in your professional life and vibrant health.

Many Blessings to you and your loved ones!

Before reading the update, please be aware of the fact that keeping your space clean and clutter-free is the rule # 1 and the foundation of any energy work. There is no point in applying powerful feng shui cures, if you still have not established a respectful relationship with your living or working space.
